This colorful turkey math craftivity is a great way to practice colors with your preschooler this November! Your preschooler will love the hands-on color practice and you will love how easy and low prep it is!
My daughter LOVES gluing things. Whether it’s liquid glue or a glue stick, she is all about it! There are times she’ll grab a glue stick and just glue random pieces of paper together with no real purpose.
Well, if your kid loves something, you gotta just roll with it.
To try and direct this love of gluing, I have started drawing pictures, letters, and numbers on paper and letting her glue cereal to it. This allows her to glue things, while also encouraging her to eat!
When I stumbled on this colorful turkey math craftivity. I knew you were going to love it! Stay tuned for how I turned this quick math craft into an even bigger learning experience!
Benefits
This activity is not only great color practice, but it also works on your child’s fine motor skills! Building your child’s fine motor skills will make sure they have the muscles they need to do things like write, use scissors, or even play an instrument in the future!
Supplies
- Liquid glue
- Fruit loops cereal
- Paper with a turkey on it
- Colored feathers
How it works
The first time around, I drew a messy turkey on a piece of paper. I have since made an easy and FREE printable turkey for you to use. You can get it below!
If you get the printable and print in color, you are ready to go!
If you are doing this by hand like I did the first time, you will want to make sure your turkey feathers are colored and match the fruit loop colors.
Colors
- Red
- Orange
- Yellow
- Green
- Blue
Once you color those on, you are ready to hand it off to your kid!
I usually set these activities up with the liquid glue already on the paper, the bowl of cereal nearby, and a napkin (just plan for a mess and you won’t be surprised!)
That’s it! A quick and easy activity to start your child’s day!
If you download the freebie you will see some extra pages have been added to this fun little turkey math craftivity! The graphing pages are a great way to introduce data sorting to your child!
I know, data sorting sounds a bit complicated for a preschooler, but the pages in the download make it easy for you to walk your child through how to set up the graph! I promise they will be so proud of themselves afterwards!
